Soft pinks, blush, lavender and cream: gentle arrangements for a new baby, a thank-you, Mother's Day or a quiet moment, made by hand at our shop on Madison Avenue.
Soft pastel flower arrangements for tender moments
Pastel flowers ask you to come a little closer. Soft pink roses open beside creamy hydrangea, a thread of lavender runs through, and cool green holds it all together, so the eye wanders gently from bloom to bloom. That softness suits the tender moments: a new baby's first week at home, Mother's Day, a heartfelt thank-you, or a grieving family you can't be with in person.
Angelica is tender through and through, pink roses and plump hydrangea with snapdragons and hyacinths rising through, as right on a kitchen table as on a desk at work. Cinderella starts from the same flowers, adds lilies and turns full and romantic, a happy fit for a birthday or an anniversary. Spring Time brims over like the first warm week of April, and Milos leans into purple and stands a little taller, like a romantic garden brought indoors.
Lullaby, as pale and quiet as a nursery at nap time, is the one to send when a new baby comes home, and its calm suits get-well wishes and sympathy too. Ballet Slipper sits long and low so guests can talk across it at dinner, pink roses and cymbidium orchids nestled into white hydrangea. Kakovatos is cool white and green, clean as a whitewashed Mediterranean town, and Sweetheart tucks soft plumes of lilac among tulips and roses, a sweet thank-you or anniversary wish.
Each design is made by hand, to order, at Jerome Florists on 96th and Madison, our corner since May 1929. Five days a week, the shop receives fresh flowers from the United States, Holland, Italy and South America. When a bloom falls short, we swap in one equal or greater in value and true to the design's colors; an orchid, though, is never replaced. Any design can always be made without lilies: add "no lilies" as an order note in the cart, not the gift message. Mention a cat, dog or other pet there too, or any flower you'd rather skip, and we will do our best to leave out whatever you ask and anything we know isn't good for your animal.
Seven days a week, our own drivers carry these pastel flower arrangements to doorsteps and front desks in three NYC boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Delivery is $15 in Manhattan and $25 for Brooklyn and Queens, and picking up from the shop is free. Most of these designs can be at a Manhattan door the same day when ordered by 3 PM, or by 1 PM for a hospital or an office. Later than that? Call 212-289-1677; Peter or Constantine can check whether yours can still leave the shop today. Your message is printed on a card free of charge, or handwritten on request; a handwritten note longer than 150 characters is $15.
Questions we hear a lot
Which pastel arrangements make good new baby flowers?
Lullaby, in white and soft blush, is a gentle welcome for a new arrival. If mother and baby are still in the hospital, give us the mother's name, room number and wing; we always call the hospital to confirm before the flowers go over. Many hospitals don't allow flowers on labor and delivery, in the nursery or in the NICU, so it's best to send them once she's in her own room. Our hospital delivery guide lists each hospital's rules.
Can a pastel design be made without lilies?
Yes, always. A number of the designs here include lilies, and every one of them can be made without: put "no lilies" in the cart's order note (the gift message box is only for your card), or phone 212-289-1677.
What about other flowers, or a pet at home?
We'll do our best. Mention your cat, dog or other pet, and any flower you'd like skipped, in the order note or by phone, and we'll try to leave out whatever you ask and anything we know isn't good for them. Lilies we can always take out; calla lilies and any other flower fall under that best effort. Our guide to pet-safe flowers has more.
Which pastel design works as a centerpiece?
Ballet Slipper, long and low, was made for dining tables and entryways. For a smaller spot, like a desk or a bedside table, Rose Bowl is a compact, rounded gathering of roses and ranunculus. Our centerpiece collection has more ideas, and for something bigger, share the date and details on our event inquiry form or give the shop a call.
Are pastel flowers a good choice for Mother's Day?
Yes: few things thank a mother as gently as soft pink flowers, and Angelica, Cinderella, Spring Time and Ballet Slipper all suit the day. Checkout asks for a delivery date, so you can order days ahead and cross it off your list, and there's more in our Mother's Day collection.
