Same day: Order by 3 PM ET, as a guideline. Later? Phone first so we can check; it can still go out.
Free pickup: 1379 Madison at 96th. Mon to Fri 9:30 AM to 7 PM, Sat and Sun 10 AM to 6 PM.
General visiting hours: The hospital lists 9 AM to 9 PM daily. Some specialty units have different hours.

Addressing flowers to a Mount Sinai patient

Put everything you know on the order. We always call the hospital to confirm before we deliver, and we can't deliver until we have a room number and the patient can receive flowers. If they can't be found yet, we keep calling until they can be delivered.

The patient's full name, the one on their wristband, not what the family calls them.
The room number, plus the area or wing if you know it. If you don't have them, whoever visited last probably does.

Questions about sending to Mount Sinai

Does Mount Sinai allow flowers?

The hospital's welcome guide mentions flower deliveries to patients' rooms, but neither it nor the visiting pages say which units accept flowers or plants. Some units, such as intensive care, may not, so ask the patient's floor before you order. No number for the floor? Call Mount Sinai's main line, 212-241-6500. We also call the hospital to confirm before we deliver.

Can you do same-day flower delivery to Mount Sinai?

Aim to order by 3 PM ET, the same guideline as anywhere in Manhattan; being close to the shop doesn't move it. After 3, phone the shop before you order so we can check whether today still works.

Can I collect the flowers and walk them over?

Yes, and pickup costs nothing. Choose pickup and the day at checkout, then collect them at 1379 Madison: weekdays 9:30 AM to 7 PM, weekends 10 AM to 6 PM. Picking up today? Call first so we can check. From the shop, walk north; the hospital's main entrances are 1468 Madison Avenue and 1190 Fifth Avenue.

Can I send flowers to new parents at Mount Sinai?

Check with the floor before you order. The hospital's visiting page gives postpartum and the NICU their own visitor limits, but those rules don't mention flowers, so the floor is the one to ask. If flowers are a no, send them to the apartment for the day they get home: one less thing to carry out with the baby.
